Double Diamond Tree Line Mecate ReinThis is the same rope that we use in the #DD7512 lead ropes. This 1/2" Tree line rope mecate has great weight and feel, with enough texture for a good grip.
Mecates are a rein and lead combined. The rein starts off on the right side of the bridle, goes up to the saddle, and back down through the slobber strap on the left side of the bridle. The tail end of the mecate goes back up to the rider. It is a handy thing to have the lead end of the mecate tucked into your belt, in case you fall off in the middle of nowhere. That way if you fall off, you have a couple seconds to grab that lead before you are faced with a long walk home. Cautionary note: don't wrap the rope around yourself, make sure it can easily pull free, unless you have a death wish... I have seen children do this on trail rides, because they didn't know any better. As in any product, make sure it is used propery.
This Double Diamond Mecate has a leather pineapple knot and horse hair tassle on one end and a leather popper on the other. The 22' we carry in stock for snaffle bits. 24' for hackamore/bosals can be ordered. Call the store 1-800-524-8002 to order.
